Open Law raise vital funds for National will-writing campaign

18/06/2026Open Law Admin

At Open Law we believe that everybody should have a will in place as it’s simply the best way to ensure your estate is handled according to your wishes and it relieves the burden of stress on families left behind. We’re passionate about making will writing services accessible and open to all, and we’re dedicated to turning that passion into a reality.

Since 2019, Open Law has taken part in Will Aid’s national will-writing campaign — a fantastic nationwide initiative that offers free will writing services, working in conjunction with UK charities to raise vital funds. Clients get a free will and charities receive donations, as solicitors dedicate their time and waive their fees.

Raising funds for West Yorkshire and beyond

In November last year, we once again took part in Will Aid’s national will-writing campaign and we managed to raise an astonishing £6,100.00.

The funds we raised made us one of the highest donating firms in the UK, and the fifth highest donating firm in the North West region. It also brought our grand total of funds raised since 2019, to a staggering £26,000.00.

We could not be more proud of our amazing staff.

Not only did we provide wills to those who need them, but the work we did helped to have a massive impact on a range of important causes, from humanitarian aid to protecting vulnerable children and those facing hardship.

Will Aid – a highlight for Open Law

Open Law solicitor, Chloe, said, “Will Aid’s national will-writing campaign is always a highlight for us – it’s a chance to do something positive for both our clients and the wider community.”

Lauren Poole, Chair of Will Aid, praised Open Law’s achievement: “Congratulations to the team on raising such a fantastic amount. It’s always inspiring to see firms come together to support Will Aid.”

Peter de Vena Franks, Will Aid’s Campaign Director, added: “The continued commitment from firms like Open Law is what makes Will Aid such a success year after year.

“It’s a great example of how the legal profession can make a meaningful difference in communities.”

Taking part in Will Aid’s national will-writing campaign

Will Aid’s national will-writing campaign runs every November, offering people the opportunity to have a professionally written will in exchange for a donation. The suggested donation is £120 for a basic single will and £200 for a pair of basic mirror wills, with all proceeds supporting Will Aid’s partner charities: Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, Crisis, NSPCC, SCIAF (Scotland), Shelter, and Trócaire (Northern Ireland).
